NamWater urges collaboration to safeguard the central region's water security
CEO Abraham Nehemia met industry leaders, government officials and municipal representatives to plan long-term water security for Windhoek and the central area.
Our services are delivered through five decentralised Business Units: North-West, North-East, Central, Coastal and South.

We abstract, treat and convey water in bulk to municipalities, mines, industries and the Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation.

Only about 1% of the rain that falls on Namibia recharges groundwater. Our hydrologists monitor rainfall, rivers, dams and aquifers.

The NamWater Laboratory in Windhoek offers water quality analysis on request, with qualified staff and modern equipment.
Untreated water can carry organisms such as Cryptosporidium. Our purification plants make sure the water we supply is safe to drink.

Under the Namibia Water Sector Support Programme, supported by the African Development Bank, we are expanding capacity in the north.

Vocational training at the Von Bach Water Treatment Plant in water treatment, plumbing, pump operation and technical trades.
NamWater was registered as a company on 9 December 1997. We are a commercialised water utility, not a privatised one: the Government of the Republic of Namibia is our sole shareholder and acts through a Board of Directors.

Our task is simple to state and hard to deliver: reliable, quality water for every Namibian, in one of the driest countries in Africa. We are investing in new infrastructure, strengthening cost recovery through the Atushe Plan, and making it easier for customers and partners to work with us, starting with this website.
